Careers & Work experience

Our Careers & work experience programme equips students with skills, guidance, and opportunities to succeed in their future careers.

Careers education at Heron Hall plays a crucial role in guiding students toward suitable post-16/18 pathways that match their interests, talents, and abilities. Our progressive careers programme, from Year 7-13, is aligned with the 8 Gatsby benchmarks of Good Career Guidance and offers high-quality, impartial guidance. Through assemblies, workshops, trips, and 1:1 support, we help students explore career options, develop key skills, and make informed choices for their future. At Heron Hall Academy we provide a progressive careers programme which enables students to plan and manage their careers effectively. All careers guidance provided to students is high quality, impartial and is underpinned by the Gatsby benchmarks and follows statutory guidance outlined in the Careers Strategy. We track, monitor and report on our careers programme using the Compass+ tool. This allows us to ensure that our programme remains in line with the Gatsby benchmarks and identifies any gaps within the provision we offer.
